After graduating from WIU in Spring 2009, Julie found herself looking for a career during the housing market collapse and nation-wide recession. She applied for the position of “Deputy Assessor” for Fulton County  and worked in that capacity until December 2020 when she was appointed as Chief County Assessment Officer. Five years into this position, she was appointed as Supervisor of Zoning & Community Development and serves as the sole Plat Act Officer for Fulton County.

In the past 16 years of employment with Fulton County, she was elected as Chairman of Area 2 for the County Assessment Officers Association of Illinois, President of the Illinois Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officials, and Area 2 Legislative Representative. She served as the IAAO Downstate Representative for Illinois and was a member of the IPAI State Conference Committee & DEI Committee. Most proudly, in 2024, she was awarded the “Outstanding Achievement in Property Assessment – Small Jurisdiction” award for Illinois from the IPAI.

Outside of her duties with Fulton County, she has served as President of the Canton Junior Women’s Club, Secretary of the Lincoln School Supporters, participates in a PAC for CUSD #66, and has been the Treasurer for the Village of St. David since 2014. Most importantly, she resides in Canton with her husband, Josh, whom is a Canton Firefighter (and SRC Alum!), their children, Ethan & Eli, and their beagles, Cooper & Rawlings.

Here’s what she has to say about SRC: “My time spent attending and playing softball for SRC were some of the best years of my life. I was fortunate enough to receive a full athletic scholarship to SRC, which allowed me to pursue two separate degrees. The quality of education I received from SRC was second to none. Professors such as Jason Strandberg and Michael Maher were the reason I went on to minor in Sociology and pursue a career in Government Administration. I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to the community that I grew up in, as well as collaborate with several of my colleagues whom are also fellow SRC Alumni.”
