SRC foundation bannerThe Spoon River College Foundation, which was established in 1979 to support the College’s Mission and its students, expends roughly a quarter of a million dollars annually on programs, facilities, and scholarships. To help fund these endeavors, the Foundation hosts a number of annual fundraising campaigns and events throughout the year.

In addition to the events below, #GivingSPOONday has been an annual day-of-giving fundraiser every #GivingTuesday since 2015, raising nearly $250,000 since its inception. The Spoon River College Community Chorus also produces a number of performances each year, and ticket sales help to fund scholarships. Please check the SRC Community Chorus page for more information!

Dinner at Macomb Outreach Center

For many years, the Celebrity Waiter Dinner took place annually at the SRC Community Outreach Center in Macomb. The themed dinner featured pre-dinner activities, a delectable dinner, lively entertainment, optional costume attire, and celebrity waiters competing to receive the highest amount of tips for the evening. The event was supported by over 50 volunteers. In more recent years, the SRC Foundation has produced a couple of murder mystery dinners. Net proceeds from the event were used to provide technology/furnishings for the Spoon River College Macomb campus and the Community Outreach Center – Macomb.

GOLF OUTING AT WEE-MA-TUK COUNTRY CLUB

The annual Foundation golf outing occurs each year in July at beautiful Wee-Ma-Tuk Country Club in Cuba. The event is a full day of golfing, contests, food and fun. Since its inception, the outing has raised well over a quarter of a million dollars for the SRC Foundation.

In terms of dollars raised, our golf outing is currently our biggest fundraising event each year, typically raising $20,000-$25,000 annually. Our 2022 event is tentatively scheduled for July 29, 2022. For more updates, or to sign up to play in or sponsor the event, contact Colin Davis at (309) 649-6395 or colin.davis@src.edu, or visit https://www.src.edu/foundation/Pages/golf.aspx.

HAVANA AND RUSHVILLE EVENTS

In the future, the SRC Foundation hopes to host biannual events in Havana and Rushville. Our most recent event, held in Havana in late 2016, was a western-themed dinner auction entitled “Horsin’ Around Havana” at Big Horse Vineyards. The event surpassed its goal, raising over $10,600 for the SRC Havana Center!

The SRC Speakeasy held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Grandpa’s in Havana was a huge success!

Guests at the SRC Foundation FUNdraiser enjoyed live music, entertainment, and hors d’oeuvres! The Hardworking Committee members did a great job creating a timeline of Havana’s rich history, including gambling, cigars and Havana’s connections with the notorious Al Capone.

Close to $4,500 was raised with this event through ticket sales, sponsorships and our Silent Auction.

A big thanks to our many generous supporters!
