The totals are in from the 33rd annual Spoon River College Foundation Golf Outing, held Friday, August 7, at Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills Country Club. This year’s event raised more than $29,800 for the SRC Foundation.

More than 78 businesses and organizations from the SRC District and beyond sponsored the outing, with 28 teams taking part. The Foundation is grateful to all of the event sponsors, and especially our Ace Sponsors: Cook Medical, Corporate Clean, Chuck Taylor State Farm, Pella Corporation, 94.1 WBYS/Q98.1, and Unland Insurance & Benefits.

Golfers enjoyed lunch, an SRC golf ball, and the opportunity to compete for the coveted championship. This year’s winning team was sponsored by Progressive Vision Center and included Jeremy Kauzlarich, Chad Murphy, John Turgeon, and Justin White.

Golfers also had the chance to compete for skill prizes on every hole, including hole-in-one prizes sponsored by Tyson Smith – American Family Insurance. Other activities included a 50/50 raffle, a chance to win a free stay at French Lick Resort, courtesy of Cook Group; spinning the Wheel of Fortune; and the opportunity to use a golf ball cannon donated and built by Mike Krulac. Golfers could also take part in the chipping game for a chance to win $100.

The funds raised through the outing help support the mission of the SRC Foundation by providing excellent educational opportunities at Spoon River College. This includes scholarships, extracurricular and community program support, facility and technology upgrades, Emergency Hardship Grants for students, and much more.

“This event is always something we look forward to, not only because it raises important funds for our students, but because it brings our communities together in support of Spoon River College,” said Michelle Howe, interim director of the SRC Foundation. “We are so thankful for everyone who sponsored a team, donated a prize, volunteered, or simply came out to enjoy the day. Their generosity makes a real difference for our students and allows us to continue investing in their success.”

Next year’s event is tentatively scheduled for August 6, 2027.
