Members of SEA (Students for Environmental Action) at Spoon River College recently planted 17 trees in honor of Earth Day near the entryway to the Canton Campus. They included eight autumn maples, four white dogwoods, three pink dogwoods, and two red buds. The Spoon River College Foundation assisted with the cost of the trees, and the SRC facilities team led by Mike Strauman assisted with the project.
SEA is an organization made up of and ran by students who not only promote the education about environmental sustainability in our community, but also act on it through setting up programs, fund raising, and education. Jim Sheff (Math faculty) is the advisor for the group.
