About Me
Barbara Ashwood grew up surrounded by cornfields and cows on her family’s farm in rural Illinois. She earned a B.A. in English and Women’s Studies (Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi) from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois and an M.A. in English from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
After graduate school, Barbara returned to the area to teach creative writing, general honors, and composition classes. She is a faculty advisor for Kaleidoscope, Spoon River College’s literature and visual arts journal, and her work has appeared in Transformations: A Los Angeles Review of Books Channel, Journal of Rural Social Sciences, the Chicago Tribune, Adanna, the River Rock Times, and local nonfiction periodicals.
