About Me:
I was born and raised in Illinois. I did my undergrad degree in Wisconsin and then grad school in Oregon before coming back and settling in Central Illinois.
I never thought I would be a teacher until my senior year of undergrad. I wanted to be a forensic scientist for most of high school and college. I was a tutor for many years and somehow didn’t make the logical jump to teaching. I wasn’t ready to ‘adult’ as senior year approached so I was ready to extend my time in school. When someone mentioned that I would make a good teacher it all clicked. I went to grad school with the intention of getting my PhD and I hated it. I left with my Master’s degree and started teaching soon after.
When I’m not teaching I love to read and cuddle my doggo.

Why Spoon River College?
I really like the small school environment. My high school was relatively small and I choose to go to a small private college that I loved, so small schools have always been part of me. I started teaching at Spoon in 2014 and I never looked back.
I love the atmosphere here. The people I work with are the best.
Advice for Students:
Listen to your instructors – We tell you things and ask you to do things for a reason, even if you don’t always see the reason right away.
Be able to follow directions – It seems simple but it really important in school and in life.
Ask questions – Sooner rather than later.
