Jasmine Murphy of Lewistown has been named the 2026 recipient of the Bonnie Stine Spoon River College Faculty Association (SRCFA) Scholarship.
Murphy’s connection to Spoon River College began when she enrolled in her first dual credit course as a freshman at Lewistown High School. The experience gave her confidence and became the beginning of an academic journey that included at least one college course every semester while in high school.
Now a full-time student at Spoon River College, Murphy is working toward completing

her associate degree while staying close to the community that has played an important role in her life. “Attending Spoon lets me continue doing what I love in my community while focusing on the future,” Murphy wrote in her scholarship essay.
That future includes some big goals. Murphy plans to continue her education at
Bradley University after graduating from SRC and ultimately hopes to earn a doctorate in engineering. In the meantime, staying close to home allows her to continue her involvement in the community, including teaching dance and pursuing volunteer and fundraising opportunities in Fulton County.
The $500 Bonnie Stine SRCFA Scholarship is awarded to a deserving Spoon River College student based on financial need, resourcefulness and an essay about the importance of attending SRC.
The Bonnie Stine SRCFA Scholarship was previously known as the Spoon River College Faculty Association Scholarship. In 2013, faculty voted to rename it to recognize Stine’s role in establishing the original SRCFA Scholarship. Stine taught at the College for 31 years before retiring in 2008.
