Scholarship Programs
The SRC scholarship programs are intended to provide maximum benefit to students seeking to improve their skills through higher education. These scholarships should be coordinated with Federal and State financial aid programs as well as outside private scholarships. Awards are first applied to students’ SRC accounts. Awards for this application will be made on a first come first serve basis and applied to the current semester. If a scholarship specifies that the award is to be split between Fall and Spring semesters, students will only receive the award for semesters attended. Awarding preference is given to students who live within the college district at the date of the submission of this application.
To be eligible for these scholarships, students MUST:
- …be accepted/enrolled and pursuing a degree or certificate program at SRC.
- …have applied for financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). – SRC school code: 001643
- (NOTE: To be eligible for SRC Foundation Scholarships, a student must complete the FAFSA for the current academic year.
- …possess and maintain a minimum cumulative SRC GPA of 2.5.
- (If the student has under 9 hours of SRC credit, student’s high school GPA will be the determining GPA.)
- (In cases where the applicant is a high school student at the time of applying, either SRC GPA or high school GPA [or both] may be considered by the committee when awarding scholarships.)
- Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.5 but who have not taken college classes in five or more years may have this requirement waived provided that the applicant offers sufficient explanation for their previous academic performance.
- Additionally, students who are currently enrolled after a gap of five or more years between sessions, and whose cumulative GPA has not yet risen to 2.5 or above, may also have this requirement waived as long as their current session GPA is 2.5 or greater.
- Students who believe this situation may be applicable to them should apply, and a representative of SRC will follow up to collect written explanation.
- A student who receives a scholarship via this clause will be responsible for maintaining a current session GPA of 2.5 or greater in order to be eligible for future scholarship opportunities.
- …submit with this application, or already have on file at SRC, an institution-verified copy of the most recent transcript (college, GED or 7th semester high school transcript.)
