Spoon River College (SRC) and the SRC Foundation offer a variety of scholarships to provide financial assistance and/or to recognize outstanding performance in academics, athletics, art/theatre, and career and technical interests.  To view, please visit the Foundation Scholarships/Grants page.

Scholarship Programs

The SRC scholarship programs are intended to provide maximum benefit to students seeking to improve their skills through higher education.  These scholarships should be coordinated with Federal and State financial aid programs as well as outside private scholarships.

Timing and Preference:

Awards are first applied to students’ SRC accounts.  Some awards are made after a semester begins.  To be eligible for renewable scholarships, students must re-apply.

Steps to Apply:

Students will be eligible to be considered for the Fellheimer Scholarship by completing the scholarship application form below and submitting the required FAFSA and transcript.

Unless otherwise stated on the website, the application, transcript, and FAFSA must be submitted to the SRC Financial Aid Office by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025.

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2024 – 2025 academic year.

    Students who are unable to file the FAFSA due to factors outside of their control (visa/SSN status, inability to collect relevant information, etc.) may still be eligible to apply provided that they request and receive the express, written permission of the Awarding Committee prior to the application deadline. Please contact the SRC Foundation office well in advance of the deadline. No application deadline extensions will be granted for students seeking exceptions for this reason.

  2. Submit with this application, or already have on file at SRC, an institution-verified copy of the most recent transcript (high school, GED, or college).
  3. Read, complete, and submit the scholarship application form below. DEADLINE IS MARCH 28, 2025. Please be sure to provide all information requested.
    (Note: While SRC goes to great lengths to ensure electronic privacy, electronic submission of this application and all the information contained therein is solely at your own risk. If you prefer to submit a hard copy by mail or in person, contact SRC Foundation for instructions and paper form.)
  4. Retain a copy of the completed application for your records (which you receive by email upon successful submission of the form.)
  5. Maintain your correct mailing address with SRC.

Eligibility:

Beyond what has been stated, please note the following qualifications for eligibility:

  1. (Students must attend at least one class at the SRC Macomb Campus.) PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS REQUIREMENT IS TEMPORARILY WAIVED.  However, students must be a resident of McDonough County.
  2. Students must live in the SRC District all 12 months of the year.
  3. Students should have graduated from a high school within the SRC District –OR—have resided within the SRC District for five or more consecutive years.
    1. If funds allow, exceptions may be made to Qualification 3. Students who do not meet this qualification are encouraged to apply but should do so with the understanding that students who meet Qualification 3 will be funded first.
  4. A cumulative SRC GPA of 2.5 is required. This means that, currently, students in their first semester at SRC are ineligible.  However, students who have taken dual credit courses prior to this semester are eligible, provided that their cumulative SRC GPA is 2.5 or higher.
  5. Students may receive Fellheimer Scholarships a maximum of four semesters (including summer awards).
  6. Students are required to submit a thank you letter to the donor for each semester’s award. Details will be listed in the acceptance letter from Student Services.
  7. Note that while a current year’s FAFSA is required, students do not need to be eligible for financial aid in order to be eligible for this award.
  8. While all students are encouraged to apply, preference is given to non-traditional students who are 25 years of age or older or have a dependent child.
  9. Students who are on full tuition waivers from SRC are not eligible to receive Fellheimer funds. However, receiving other SRC scholarships (including SRC Foundation scholarships), external scholarships, or federal/state grant money are eligible, even if their whole tuition/fees are covered.

PLEASE NOTE:  STUDENTS MUST REMAIN IN GOOD STANDING AT SRC.  FURTHER, TO RECEIVE FUNDING, STUDENTS WHO ARE AWARDED MUST SIGN AND RETURN THE ACCEPTANCE LETTER ALONG WITH A THANK YOU NOTE TO THE DONOR WHO MADE THEIR SCHOLARSHIP POSSIBLE.  THE FOUNDATION WILL SEND INFORMATION ABOUT THE REQUIREMENT TO THE RECIPIENT’S OFFICIAL ADDRESS WITH SCHOLARSHIP DECISION.  FAILURE TO SUBMIT THE LETTER WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF SCHOLARSHIP.
