3.3.6 - Holiday Benefit

POLICY:  Spoon River College generally recognizes the following as paid holidays each year, provided they occur during the contractual period:

New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, and Winter break, which is determined by the President.

SCOPE:

This policy applies to all eligible employees including the following:

DETAILS:

  1. Full-time faculty receive pay for instructional days only.
  2. Part-time professional support receive pay for the Winter break only (regularly scheduled hours).
  3. Holiday pay must be appropriately reflected on the hourly paid employee’s electronic timecard. Note:  Salaried employees need not report holiday time on the electronic timecard.
  4. Holiday pay is not considered as time worked for the purpose of overtime calculations.
  5. Holiday pay is computed at individual employee’s base rate of pay.
  6. Holiday pay is not paid to employees on any type of unpaid leave.
  7. Time off without pay may be granted to employees who desire to observe a religious holiday which is not recognized by the College, provided the leave does not create an undue hardship.  Employee may use available paid time off (vacation, personal, or PTO) upon supervisor approval.
