SRC FOUNDATION CELEBRITY WAITER DINNER A HUGE SUCCESS IN MACOMB

Celebrity Waiter Dinner 2009(Macomb, IL) – Pella Corporation received “highest donor” honors at the 5th annual Spoon River College Foundation Celebrity Waiter Dinner on Saturday, January 31. Pella sponsored a table for $1,000, contributed $946 in waiter tips, and secured an additional $745 in matching gifts from Pella Rolscreen Foundation for a total contribution of $2,691. The total amount generated for the annual event was $22,111.

The evening included fun antics by volunteer waiters, a silent basket auction, and music. This was the first year that the event featured a live performance by the well-known band The Daddy-O’s.

The winning waiter, Al Brewer, represented BLADES which also sponsored the GREASE-themed table. Participants were in 1950s costume and their waiter provided service on roller skates. The Blades tip total topped all others at $1,000.00.

“This year’s event, a part of SRC’s 50th anniversary celebration, was the best yet,” stated Emily Gillett, Foundation and Waiter Dinner Coordinator. “With all revenue now counted, we generated over $22,000 for Spoon River College’s Macomb facilities, scholarships and programs. We are very much looking forward to the opening of the college’s new Community Outreach Center on East Jackson. The monies raised from this event, plus generous donations from other contributors in Macomb, will enable the college to provide additional educational service and opportunities throughout the community.”
