The value of a college education is a concept that has been researched and written about extensively. Certainly there is the value to you to have more knowledge about different subject areas. There's the value in having the proper training to get a job. There's the value in learning new life skills -- time management, critical thinking, responsibility, and accountability.
Spoon River College strives to teach and pass along these values. And, along with the college's Core Values, our faculty and staff provide a well-rounded education that helps students move on to the next phase of their lives, whether it's transferring to another college or university, or embarking on a new career.
At SRC, you'll find we work hard to model our Core Values:
Caring: interest and concern
Respect: regard and esteem
Integrity: personal honesty
Fairness: equity and justice
Responsibility: dependability and accountability
Another value of a college education is the increase in earnings or income. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that a high school graduate has an average annual income of $36,800; those with an associate degree average $45,800 and the average for one with a four-year degree is $65,600.
Even with the incentive of more earnings, attaining a college degree can seem like an unreachable goal for some. That's why community colleges -- especially Spoon River College -- are a great value. Our tuition and fees are 1/4 less than the cost of Illinois public four-year universities and 1/10 the cost of Illinois private college.
Let us help you experience the value of an education at Spoon River College...
