Orientation programs are for all new students and are held at the beginning of the fall semester and various times throughout the year.  Students are encouraged to attend orientation to familiarize themselves with the college, as well as, support services, academic services, and student life.  If you are unable to attend one of the on-campus orientation sessions, you may take the online new student orientation.  Please contact the Student Services office at (309) 649-6400 for more information.

How will I know what classes to complete?

Once admitted to the college students are assigned an academic advisor.  This advisor will discuss with you an educational plan that meets your goals.  Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor prior to registering each semester.

What is a credit hour?

A credit hour, sometimes called a semester hour, refers to the number of credits you receive towards graduation for each class you successfully complete.  Credit hours are determined by the number of hours per week you are in class for that course.  For example, a class meeting 9-9:50 a.m. three days a week will generally earn three credit hours.

What is the difference between full-time and part-time student status?

SRC defines a full-time load as 12 or more credit hours per semester.  A part-time load is anything less than 12 credit hours.
