SRC COMMUNITY CHORUS TO PRESENT BROADWAY FROM START TO FINISH

The Spoon River College Community Chorus kicks off the new year by rehearsing its winter production of “Broadway:  Start to Finish.”  Rehearsals for the production begin on Thursday, January 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 269 East Chestnut, in Canton.

Four performances of the show will be presented on February 28, March 1 and 2, 2014 in the Theater in Taylor Hall, located on the SRC Canton campus.  Audience members will also enjoy the use of a new LED theatrical lighting system designed and installed by SRC alum and lighting design award winner, Jacob Welch of Colorado.

Auditions are not required for participation in the chorus and anyone with a love of singing and performing are invited to join.

The SRC Community Chorus raises funds for scholarships through ticket sales.  Three named endowed scholarships have been established since the Chorus’s inception in 2005.

“Broadway:  Start to Finish” will feature songs that open and close Acts I and II of a variety of Broadway musicals.  Musical numbers from such Tony award-winning shows as Company, Chicago, Sweeney Todd, Assassins, Guys & Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors, Pippin, Godspell, The Book of Mormon, Chess, Gypsy, Les Miz, and many others will be highlighted.
