Gardening and Chair Yoga are Topics at
Conference for Retirees
College’s 3rd Annual Rushville Retirees Learning Institute will take
place Friday, April 25th at
the Spoon River College Rushville Center beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 2
Retirees Learning Institute began as an outreach project of the Retirees
Leading Initiative. The Spring 2014 institute
includes three educational sessions, refreshments, lunch, and a Resource Fair
with information provided by local businesses and organizations. Deadline to register is April 18th.
Gardening-Herbs, Vegetables, & Flowers is being presented by Joan
Sullivan, Horticulture Coordinator, at the University of Illinois
Extension. In her session participants
will learn about how container gardening can allow you to create special
gardens to fit your needs and style. Participants will learn the basics of
growing successful containers.
presented by Mary Moreland will teach some basic yoga moves that participants can
do from the comfort of a chair while watching TV. Yoga can help maintain muscle
mass and flexibility.
