The Spoon River College Office of
Community Outreach is offering a pharmacy technician education program that
will be taught by Natalie Dilts of Pharm Tech Ed, which is a certified PTCB
(pharmacy technician certification board) Advocate Educator. This program began at SRC last fall and this
will be the third class that has been offered through the college.
“In Illinois, obtaining a state
license allows people to work as a pharmacy tech for two years,” said Dilts.
“After two years, they are required to become certified by passing a national
exam, administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.”
The classes being offered will help
participants prepare for the certification exam and teach skills needed for a
pharmacy tech position. Recertification, which requires 20 hours of continuing
education, is mandatory every two years.
“This profession is well respected
and very rewarding,” Dilts said. “You’re helping people on a daily basis.”
Classes for the 12-week program will
be held on Thursday evenings from 6-10 p.m. beginning August 21. They will be
held at the Community Outreach Center located at 45 East Side Square, Suite 302
in Canton. For more information or to register, call 309-647-6260.
