Elam Private Detective, Inc. in partnership with Spoon River College will be offering courses for Concealed Carry on Saturday, November 16, and Sunday, November 17, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Elam Private Detective, Inc. located at 1920 N. Main Street in Canton.
Courses are approved by the Illinois State Police and are available to those interested in applying for the concealed carry license. Topics to be discussed include firearm safety; basic principles of marksmanship; care, cleaning, loading, and unloading of a concealed firearm; weapon handling; and all applicable state and federal laws relating to the ownership, storage, carry and transportation of a firearm. A course for women only is being developed and will be offered after the New Year.
Course fees include state application fees, fingerprint fees, photograph fees, range fees, assistance completing state application, class room materials, 8-16 hours of required training, and mailing expenses for the application. Courses are instructed by Keith Grant, Rod Boggs, and Eric Jones.
