-SRC Community Chorus Presents "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown"

The Spoon River College Community Chorus will present three performances of the popular musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, on May 31 at 7:00 p.m. and on June 1 at 3:00 pm or 7:00 p.m.  All shows will be performed in the theater located in Taylor Hall on the SRC Canton campus.  General admission tickets are $10.00 and may be reserved by calling (309) 647-6260.
The musical is presented as a series of comic strips featuring the most popular Charles Schulz characters.  John L. Davis will play Charlie Brown with Carol Davis as Lucy Van Pelt and Chad Murphy as Lucy’s little brother, Linus.  Snoopy is being played by Chad Leitschuh with Lorie Rude as Sally Brown.  Bob Juraco returns to Fulton County for the first time in many years to play the role of Schroeder.
“This show is timeless,” says Carol Davis, director of the show “And it’s a good thing that it is, since all of us in the show, except for one, are over the age of 40.  We are having a great time reliving our lives as kids.  John, Bob and I performed the show over 25 years ago and played the same roles.  We’ve changed a bit since then, but we have retained our love for those wonderful characters.”
The production staff team includes Jackie Davis as Stage Manager and Properties Chair; Veanna Thum, Set Decoration; Bob Haile and the SRC Maintenance Department, Set Construction; Bobby McKenzie and Daniel Edwards, Lighting.
Musicians for the show are Gretchen Fuller, piano; Pam Willison, keyboard; and Jaimie Jenkins on bass.
“Because of its popularity, we are encouraging people to get their tickets as soon as possible,” Davis stated.  “We have been very fortunate to have great support from the community’s theater-going public.”
Advanced sales began on March 15 and approximately 25 tickets remain for each performance.
Proceeds from the productions will be contributed to the Marge Saville Memorial Scholarship fund.
The SRC Community Chorus began in 2005 and has grown to include a minimum of one concert and one production per year.  To date, the Chorus has raised over $20,000 in ticket sales, benefitting the SRC Foundation’s scholarship program.  Most recently, the Chorus presented the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber to four sold-out houses.
The Chorus is collaborating with Many Lights Theatre this summer to present the award-winning musical Man of La Mancha at the Barn in Bryant to celebrate the Fulton County Playhouse’s 50th anniversary.  Ticket information about that show will be available soon.
