Geocaching Summer Youth Program in Canton on July 17th

The Spoon River College Office of Community Outreach is offering Geocaching – Technology & Treasure.  This interactive day camp is scheduled for youth who have completed 5th through 8th grades.

Camp will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the SRC Canton Community Outreach Center.

Geocaching is a “real-world outdoor treasure hunting game.  Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online.”  (Source: geocaching.com)

Andrea Barbknecht and Julie Seeley of Spoon River College will use online resources to locate “treasure” and then use GPS technology to find the physical object.

Enrollment is limited for this program, so early registration is suggested.  A registration form/parent permission form is required and available at the Spoon River College Community Outreach Center located at 45 East Side Square, Suite 302 in Canton.
