Canton – Have you wanted to teach Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s) but wasn’t sure where to start? This course is for you! Spoon River College is offering a CNA Instructor “Train the Trainer” Course August 12-16, 2013 from 8 am.-5 p.m. at the Spoon River College Canton Campus.
This course is a requirement for all RN’s who want to become Certified Nurse Aide Instructors, and is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Successful completion of the course will qualify RN’s licensed in Illinois to develop and teach the Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program (BNATP). This course includes the required lectures on Alzheimer’s disease. The Train the Trainer approach is designed to introduce concepts and methods of teaching and learning principles, curriculum development, and instructional methods, which will help participants to become more effective facilitators of adult learning situations. Guidelines of Federal and State regulations for BNATP require competence in planning, developing, and conducting a training program therefore; participants are required to present a training simulation module during this course to meet these competencies.
Registration is required by August 7, 2013 as seating is limited. IDPH requires you must be a registered nurse with a minimum of two years nursing experience.
