Spoon River College board member Dave Maguire
earned his seventh Trustee Education Award from the Illinois Community College
Trustees Association (ICCTA). The award is granted to individuals who have
participated in 15 or more ICCTA-sponsored continuing education seminars.
Maguire’s tenure on the Spoon River College Board
of Trustee began in 1993. During that time he has served as chairman, vice
chairman, and secretary of the board, plus served on numerous committees and
special task forces on the local, state, and national level addressing issues
facing community colleges and the future of education.
Maguire has also served as the president of the
ICCTA, as national director of the Associate of Community College Trustees in
Washington D.C., and as a member of the Joint Commission on Federal Relations
for Community Colleges in the United States.
Maguire resides in Macomb, where he serves as a
private consultant for not-for-profit organizations.
The Illinois Community College Trustees
Association is a statewide organization created in 1970 as the voice of the
state's community college boards. ICCTA membership is comprised of trustees
from public community college districts throughout Illinois.
Spoon River College is a two-year, public
community college in West Central Illinois with campuses in Canton and Macomb
and learning centers in Havana and Rushville that serve approximately 4,000
credit students per year. The college
