15th Annual Coffee Spoon Planned At Spoon River College

The 15th annual Spoon River College coffeehouse event, The Coffee Spoon, will be held on Tuesday, April 22, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the drama theatre in Taylor Hall on the Canton Campus, and on Wednesday, April 23 from 1-2:30 p.m. on the Macomb Campus.

“This is a fun and unique way to showcase the talent of our students and employees, and is something I look forward to organizing every year,” said Paige Edwards, graphic designer at Spoon River College and coordinator for the event.

The Coffee Spoon will feature literary readings that have been published in the 2013-14 Kaleidoscope Journal of Art and Literature, a student publication featuring short stories, poems, essays, song lyrics, photography and fine art that will be distributed during the Coffee Spoon.

“We also encourage impromptu readings and musical selections,” said Edwards. “It’s a funky and informal atmosphere. I try to recreate the coffee houses of the 1960s.”

This event is free and open to the public, and a variety of flavored coffees are provided. For more information about the event, contact Paige Edwards, Coffee Spoon Coordinator, at paige.edwards@src.edu.

Anyone interested in obtaining a copy of this year’s Kaleidoscope may contact the editors at kscopesubmit@src.edu. Spoon River College offers the publication at no charge, but the supply is limited so please be sure to submit a request soon.
